Dig Together: classes hosted by EXCAVATE BODY
Weekly classes hosted by EXCAVATE BODY at Windmill Arts featuring a rotating line-up of Atlanta artists, movers, and teachers!
Teachers will rotate monthly to feature various movers and styles and give those interested in teaching and exploring different methods the opportunity to do so — and of course, to provide dancers (and movers!) with more opportunities to be together, learn from one another, and experience a wide range of techniques and perspectives. Saturday, January 18th: 10am-11:30am
Low & Slow with Scott Wheet
This class is designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer and will ask you to remain in constant dialogue with the floor, exploring concepts like gravity, effort, and momentum along the way. We will prepare the body for movement through somatic prompts and gentle stretching. As our bodies become warm and available, I’ll facilitate bridging the gap between our horizontal and vertical bodies with pathways that explore folding, sliding, pushing and pulling. Over time, we will build a common vocabulary that layers upon itself, encouraging a flow-like state to play inside of.
Saturdays
January 25th & February 1st & 15th: 10am-11:30am
Improvisational Practice with Charlotte Angermeier
This class is designed to wake up the body and explore movement dynamics. We will use different improvisational prompts to warm up and research phrase work. Come ready to sweat, play, and explore!
